How to perform sfc scan?

SFC /SCANNOW Command  Scans the integrity of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

To perform this scan process, one should have administrator rights on the command prompt, which can be opened as an administrator by right clicking on it.

How to open command prompt as an administrator in Windows 8 or 8.1

Windows 7 users can click on start and type command on the search option which results in command prompt.

Then right click on command prompt and run as an administrator.

Step 2: Type the command SFC /SCANNNOW in the command line and hit <enter>

sfc /scannow

A system file scan can also be executed on Windows 10. The procedure to access command prompt as an administrator remains the same like Windows 8 or 8.1

There are noted results by executing the system file checker process which auto fixes most of the cases due to any temporary issues. If you find any of your applications misbehavior, this scan procudure is much useful.

/SCANNOW Scans integrity of all protected system files and repairs files
with problems when possible.
/VERIFYONLY Scans integrity of all protected system files. No repair operation is performed.
/SCANFILE Scans integrity of the referenced file, repairs file if problems are identified. Specify full path <file>
/VERIFYFILE Verifies the integrity of the file with full path <file>. No repair operation is performed.
/OFFBOOTDIR For offline repair specify the location of the offline boot directory
/OFFWINDIR For offline repair specify the location of the offline windows directory
