Outlook Problems Related To ‘Send/Receive’ Settings

Outlook Problems Related To ‘Send/Receive’ Settings

I’ve often had to face this issue of not being able to change the ‘Send/Receive’ settings on my

Outlook. It usually occurs halfway through the procedure of changing it, that my Outlook would

just freeze up or stop responding to anything. But such Outlook problems can be resolved easily

with a little help from Outlook help. Normally, the below mentioned procedure is followed to

change your Send/Receive settings in Outlook:

1. First of all, open Outlook and select the “Options” tab in the “Tools” menu.

2. Then select the “Mail Format” tab.

3. Then click on the “Send/Receive” button.

The issue arises upon clicking the “Edit” button. The dialog box would probably just stay there

without further response. The reason for such Outlook problems is that your current ‘Send/

Receive’ settings got corrupted in some way.

How to resolve such Outlook problems

Outlook problems such as these can be resolved quite easily. To fix this, you will need to

rename the SRS file for that mail profile to .old when Outlook is closed.

For resolving such Outlook problems, first of all, you’ll need to locate the SRS file. The SRS file is

saved by default on the following locations of your computer.

• In Windows XP, you can navigate through the following path to get at the SRS file:

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

• In Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can locate the SRS file through:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\

You’ll have multiple SRS files in the directory if you have multiple mail profiles configured in

Outlook. These files will be named after your mail profile. So all you need to do is change the

file names back to .old when Outlook is closed and all your Outlook problems will be solved.
